MaxPhone
Right-click any phone number. Call with Google Voice.
macOS 14.0+ • Apple Silicon • ~80 KB
Isolated Session
MaxPhone keeps its own cookies separate from Safari and Chrome. No more logging out of your personal Google to access Voice.
Right-Click to Call
Enable the Service shortcut and call any highlighted phone number from the right-click menu in any app.
tel: URL Handler
Registers as your system phone handler. Click any tel: link on the web and MaxPhone dials it through Google Voice.
Built-in Dialer
Paste or type a number in the top bar and hit Call. Google Voice handles the rest through WebRTC.
Menu Bar Access
Always-available phone icon in your menu bar with recent call history and quick dial.
Zero Config
No API keys, no SIP setup. Just log into Google Voice inside the app and start calling.
Setup Guide
Get a Google Voice Number
Go to voice.google.com in Safari or Chrome and sign up for a free Google Voice number. Choose a number and link it to your Google account. This only needs to be done once.
Download & Install MaxPhone
Download MaxPhone.zip, unzip it, and drag MaxPhone.app to your /Applications folder. On first launch, right-click the app and choose “Open” to bypass Gatekeeper.
Log into Google Voice
When MaxPhone opens, it shows Google Voice in an embedded browser with its own session—completely isolated from Safari. Log in with the Google account that has your Voice number. You'll stay logged in across app restarts.
Enable the Services Shortcut
Go to System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Services. Under the Text section, find “Call with Max’s Phone” and check the box. Now you can select any phone number in any app, right-click → Services → Call with Max’s Phone.
Start Calling
Highlight a phone number anywhere on your Mac, right-click, and choose the service. Or paste a number into MaxPhone's top bar and hit Call. Or click any tel: link on the web. MaxPhone routes everything through Google Voice.
How It Works
MaxPhone embeds a WKWebView (macOS’s native browser engine) pointed at Google Voice. Unlike opening GV in Safari, this WebView maintains its own cookie store—so your Google login inside MaxPhone is completely separate from your browser sessions.
When you enter a phone number and press Call, MaxPhone navigates Google Voice to its call initiation URL. GV handles the actual call via WebRTC, using your Google Voice number as the caller ID.
The app also registers as a macOS Service and as the default tel: URL handler, so phone numbers from any app on your Mac can flow directly into Google Voice.
